The firm has engineers within the team who are experienced in all typical engineering surveys and field work related to design of water supply and sewerage projects and rehabilitation of roads, bridges and drainage structures. The scope of experience covers equipment operations, recording of data, supervising teams, fieldwork planning and administration, modern material testing and analysis, and training.
Malawi: Survey of Construction Industry
The Consultant investigated and analyzed the construction industry in Malawi in relation to the country’s overall economic, agriculture and infrastructure development. The projected the demand for construction of roads, water systems, agro-industrial complexes and related civil works in Malawi in relation to the country’s overall economic development. The exercise was financed by Lemminkainen Oy of Finland.
Malawi, Survey and Preparation of Bidding Documents for the Construction of New Small Scale Irrigation Schemes in Northern Region of Malawi
The assessment aimed at verifying the gross area, make determination of development options and ensure that a gravity-supplied scheme is possible, check reliability of water supply for the scheme, availability of aggregates and other construction material and their distances to the construction sites and make estimates of cost per hectare. Topographical survey, assessment of land use and capacity, irrigation agronomy, socio-cultural aspects and beneficiary participation, institutions and management, economic analyses, Environmental Impact Assessment and management plan was undertaken. All aspects of the detailed design of the selected option for development of each scheme was completed. These include main intake structure, main and secondary implementation schedules, design report, preparation of bidding documents and capacity building. The project was undertaken for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and financed by the World Bank.
